Abstract :

In this article a hypothesis test is performed for current consumption (KWh) in a household electricity meter for one year (365 days). Initially in the hypothesis testing, the population to be surveyed is obtained from the sample size calculation (n). Then the data is collected according to this population. Now the collected data are to be statistically test to the likelihood of obtaining sample outcomes if the null hypothesis is true. The tested results are to be compared with the null hypothesis, if it satisfies the condition the existing system is good otherwise an alternate approach is given. The economical current consumption is considered as 7KWh (H0). But the interpreted value goes beyond the null hypothesis hence rejecting the null hypothesis and follows an alternate hypothesis. We can use LED bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs and prefer to use 5 star rated power saving electric components such as refrigerator, air conditioner, etc.
