Abstract :

The activated carbon prepared from the seeds of Prosopis juliflora was used as an adsorbent for the removal of methylene blue dye present in synthetic waste water. The activated carbon was characterized by the techniques like FT-IR and SEM. The activated carbon (Prosopis juliflora) was tested for the removal of metals ions from the waste water with various concentrations, time, temperature and pH. In addition to that the effect of matrix was also calculated. Results revealed that the activated carbon acts as an effective adsorbent with respect to concentration, time, temperature and pH. The maximum percentage of removal of Prosopis juliflora was found to be 93.4% at 10 ppm with respect to concentration.
